السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
“Verily in the remembrance of Allah the hearts find peace!”
When will that be? It is when you are alone with Allah, on your prayer rug or without rug like the Bedouin above. Imam Abu Daud رحمه الله narrated in his Sunan:
“Narrated Sa’id رضى الله عنه : and the narrator Musa said: As far as Amr thinks, the Prophet ﷺ said: The whole earth is a place of prayer except public baths and graveyards.”
You wake up in the quiet of the night and you think only of Him. After having your ablution وضوء and preliminary obligatory or recommended observations you stand up and face Mecca, and pray.
You begin your Tahajud (night vigil prayer) with a set of two light raka’as, and then another set of two raka’as, and then another set of two raka’as, and then another set of two raka’as – eight raka’as in all, separated by Salam in between the sets. You recite to the depth of your heart verses of the Qoran in the raka’as which are easy upon you. Then you stand up again, have a set of two raka’as of Witr, and then finally a raka’a to conclude your prayer for the night of the day. With the prayer you shall find rest of your heart, sublime peace!
